HVHC and Entergy Nuclear Conduct Emergency Training Drill

On Thursday, September 18th Hudson Valley Hospital Center (HVHC) and Entergy Nuclear teamed up to conduct an emergency training drill.

The annual exercise helps train Hospital staff on how to receive, treat and decontaminate patients who may have been involved in a radiation accident.  Entergy workers would likely be brought to HVHC in the event of an accident because of the hospital’s proximity to the plant.  This year’s mock incident involved a patient who had an eye injury and radiation contamination.  More than a dozen members of the Hospital staff – nurses, physicians, members of the radiology, security, and housekeeping staffs – as well as members of Entergy’s Radiation Protection team and Verplanck Ambulance – all participated in the drill.  Entergy Nuclear provides a donation to the Hospital, as a thank you for its work with emergency preparedness.
