Hudson Valley Hospital Center Recognized for Economic Development Leadership
Westchester County Association presented APEX award to Hospital for $100 million renovation project
Cortlandt Manor, NY - (Oct 29, 2010) – In 2008 and 2009 when so many businesses were scaling back or closing entirely, Hudson Valley Hospital Center forged ahead with a $100 million economic development project that signaled hope in an otherwise bleak economy.
On June 24, the newly renovated Hospital opened complete with a new lobby, four-story patient tower, 450-space parking garage and renovated and expanded Emergency Department. The project created jobs, poured millions into the economy and set an example for other businesses.
That vision was honored on Thursday October 28, when Hudson Valley Hospital Centerreceived an APEX award for Economic Development Leadership from the Westchester County Association. The Hospital joined five other individuals and businesses that were presented with Awards for Professional Excellence at the WCA's Fall Leadership Dinner at the Doubletree Hotel Tarrytown. More than 700 businesses and community leaders attended to celebrate the association's 60th anniversary.
"To be recognized by an organization of the caliber of the Westchester County Association, is truly an honor," said John C. Federspiel, President of Hudson Valley Hospital Center. "As a 'community hospital' in the truest sense of the word, our mission is not only to provide the best medical care to individuals, but to invest in and support the community as a whole."
As a major employer in Westchester, Hudson Valley Hospital Center employs more than 1,000 people and pours more than $150 million into the community each year in salaries and capital spending.
Bill Mooney, President of the Westchester County Association, congratulated the Hospital along with the other honorees.
"The WCA congratulates these individuals for their exemplary leadership in making a significant contribution to the future of Westchester’s economic vitality," said Mooney. "Their expertise, vision and strong commitment to the community again underscore the extraordinary caliber of our members who have helped our organization to become the area's preeminent business membership organization since its founding in 1950."
