Hudson Valley Hospital Center’s 11th Annual Women’s Symposium explores work/life balance

During the snowy Halloween weekend, Hudson Valley Hospital Center (HVHC) welcomed more than 100 women to reflect on the every day successes and trials of the lives of women in our community, during the 11th Annual Women’s Symposium “Finding Purpose and Passion in Life’s Balance” at the Chalet on the Hudson in Cold Spring.

Keynote speakers for the event included Darlene Rodriguez, co-anchor of WNBC’s award winning “Today in New York” and Elizabeth Ailes, publisher of the Putnam County News and Recorder and the Putnam County Courier. Both women bounced daily tips off of one another, while expressing thanks for the opportunities they have had and the choices they have made.

Kacey Morabito Grean, of WHUD’s Mike and Kacey in the Morning, kept the conversation flowing and the audience in laughter with her wit and humor, as she welcomed each speaker and moderated the Q&A portion of the program.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the day featured Dr. Pond Kelemen of the Ashikari Breast Center at HVHC, Dr. William Higgins and Ellen Higgins, FNP of the Westchester Medical Practice, a married couple who talked about balancing responsibilities at home, yoga instructor Patty Holmes of the Yoga Garden and astrologer Demitra Vassiliadis. To encourage relaxation, ten minute massages were raffled off throughout the day.

Additional raffle donors included Le Petite Spa in Croton; Juliet Stewart International of Nyack; Sheri Hoffman of Wellness 911 in Beacon; Nelson Natural Products of Andover, Mass.; A Natural You in Mohegan Lake and Pilates on Hudson in Peekskill.
