Cardiac Rehabilitation

Message from the Chairman

Edward B. MacDonald,
Jr., Chairman

For 125 years, Hudson Valley Hospital Center has been here for the community. Many things have changed over the years, including major expansions for both in-patient and out-patient services. We have certainly surpassed our reputation as a community hospital, growing into one of the premiere care facilities in the area, rivaling larger medical facilities in the state-of the-art care we are able to provide. But we will not stray from our commitment to this community.
In November 2011, we opened the Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Cancer Center including medical leaders in cancer care from the Ashikari Breast Center and the New York Group for Plastic Surgery with complementary state-of-art technology for radiation oncology and infusion treatment. In addition to comprehensive cancer care, our Medical Office Building is home to NYU Hudson Valley Cardiology Group, Mount Kisco Medical Group, Westchester Medical Practice, and Hudson Valley Center for Digestive Health.
During this time of organizational growth, we continue to encourage healthy lifestyle changes. We know the importance of our food choices and this past year we are proud to have implemented our organic food initiative. We began the initiative in April 2012 with the construction of a volunteer-based organic garden. This garden provides all organic produce as well as a therapeutic refuge for patients. Through partnerships with local farms, we have expanded our monthly farmers’ markets to twice-monthly and welcomed Cura Hospitality, a food service provider specializing in locally sourced, healthy food.
These opportunities have become a reality in large part with your help. This fall, we opened a demonstration and teaching kitchen featuring healthy cooking classes for community members of all ages. Visit our community calendar to find out about a variety of classes. The new kitchen is located at The Dempsey House on the Pataki Center campus adjacent to the Hospital.
Again, we hope that you will be our partner in this new endeavor. It is because of donors like yourself and because of our forward looking strategies that our Hospital has been able to thrive through even the toughest of economies. Together, we can continue to move forward, making our community, and this Hospital, a place of which we can all be proud.
