Mom gives birth to 10th baby at Hudson Valley Hospital Center

Nine girls and one boy all delivered at the Women's Pavilion for Birthing.
Cortlandt Manor, NY - (August 27, 2010) - Number 10 was the charm for Doreen Sheridan and her husband Brian, whose 10th baby was both at Hudson Valley Hospital Center on Thursday night.
At 6 pounds and 14 ounces and 20 inches, Sara Cynthia was born around 9 p.m. August 26. She joined siblings Samantha, 18, Julia, 16, Sean, 15, Nora, 13, Delia, 11, Kiera, 9, Emma, 6, Catriona, 4 and Ella 2 - all born at Hudson Valley Hospital Center.
Coincidentally, Sara's weight and measurement at birth were exactly the same as her mom's. And Doreen Sheridan was also born at Peekskill Hospital, now Hudson Valley Hospital Center, 41 years ago.
The Sheridan's live in LaGrangeville in Dutchess County, but Doreen grew up in Buchanan. Doreen said she has chosen to have all her children at the Women's Pavilion because of the warm atmosphere and because it is close to her parents who still live in Buchanan.
Will there be an 11th Sheridan? Mom and Dad say no. But the grandparents say they would not be surprised, especially with the eldest, Samantha, leaving for college next week.
The Women's Pavilion for Birthing offers families a great safe alternative to home delivery.
Five private labor and delivery rooms offer a cheerful and home-like environment and are equipped with all the latest technology for the birthing experience. Each has its own private whirlpool tub. A snack lounge is available close by for quick refreshment.
There are 13 private post-partum rooms which are luxuriously decorated and designed for maximum comfort with many amenities such as a private marble tile bath, cozy quilt, a DVD player and refrigerator. Dads are welcome to stay overnight, and rooming-in with baby is mom and dad's choice. A continental breakfast is served every morning and snacks are provided in the evening.
The Women's Pavilion offers a relaxed atmosphere and alternative delivery options such as the ability to have family members present at the birth and the use of midwives. But if any complications should arise HVHC has a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), Level 2 nursery that can care for premature or seriously ill babies.
About 1,000 babies are delivered each year at HVHC.
