Hudson Valley Hospital Center Phones Back in Service
Cortlandt Manor, NY - (August 30, 2011) – Hudson Valley Hospital Center's phone lines are back in service following some interruptions during the storm.
Yesterday callers were asked to dial the hospital's switchboard at 914-737-9000 because direct lines to departments and patient rooms were not working due to fiber optic cable problems related to Hurricane Irene.
"We are happy to report that all our phone lines are back in service so the public can call direct to departments and patient rooms,'' said Hudson Valley Hospital Center President John C. Federspiel. "Of course, the public is always welcome to call the 737-9000 number if they need assistance.''
The Hospital had only minor water damage due to this weekend’s hurricane and only one minor storm related injury came through its emergency department early Sunday morning.
Justin Costable, EMS Coordinator and Emergency Management Director at HVHC, said the hospital was prepared with backup generators, extra supplies of food and water and had gone over evacuation and triage procedures with weekend staff, many of whom spent Saturday night at the hospital.
The Hospital also coordinated with other hospitals and EMS agencies on bed capacity in case HVHC had needed to take in evacuated patients from other hospitals.
