Hudson Valley Hospital Center Names New Director of Marketing and Public Relations; and New Special Events Manager

(Cortlandt Manor, NY) - August 26, 2010 - Hudson Valley Hospital Center has added to two top professionals to its Marketing Department and Foundation staff, John C. Federspiel, President, Hudson Valley Hospital Center announced today.

Victoria Hochman, formerly Communications Director for Westchester County, has been appointed to the position of Director of Marketing and Public Relations. She will oversee the hospital's marketing and public relations efforts, including community awareness and internal communications. Allyson Curtis, formerly Director of Marketing and Development for Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Hudson Valley, will serve as Special Events Manager, planning and directing events including the hospital's Annual Ball as well as cultivation and community outreach efforts.

"This is an exciting time for us and we are pleased to have found two people whose energies and talents match the culture here at the new Hudson Valley Hospital Center," said Federspiel. "With the opening of our new patient tower and the completion of a $100 million renovation, we have a great future ahead of us. We welcome the fresh ideas and energy these two people will provide as we move into our next challenge - the opening of a new Cancer Center and Medical Office Building next summer."

Prior to joining HVHC, Ms. Hochman served as Communications Director for Westchester County and Deputy Communications Director before that. During her 11-year tenure with Westchester County, she helped to shape policy in county government and promote its services. Before working in government, Ms. Hochman was a journalist and worked as editor at Newsday, where she won a Pulitzer Prize for her work on news coverage of the crash of Flight TWA 800 over Long Island in 1996. She also worked for many years as a reporter and editor for The Journal News, as well as other local publications.

Ms. Hochman said she was eager to promote the hospital's quality medical services, as well as, the many community outreach and health education programs available to the public.

"I'm excited to be in the midst of this revolution and to work for a hospital that exemplifies what health care, can and should be."

Ms. Hochman received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science from the State University of New York at New Paltz. She lives in White Plains with her husband and two daughters.

Also joining the Marketing team, is Ms. Curtis who has extensive marketing and development experience.

A native and long-time resident of Peekskill, Ms. Curtis who has extensive marketing and development experience, said she was thrilled to accept a career opportunity that allows her to give back to her community. Prior to joining HVHC, she served as the Director of Marketing and Development for the Hudson Valley Chapter of the national Make-A-Wish organization, serving eight counties in the region. In addition to her non-profit experience, Ms. Curtis has served in roles in the corporate world, having worked in the Corporate Communications departments at Texaco, Inc. and Entergy.

"The hospital has special, personal meaning to me, having cared for me and my loved ones, and I look forward to working to ensure that this hospital will be there to care for generations to come."

Ms. Curtis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Journalism from Marymount College (Fordham) Tarrytown. She resides in Peekskill.
