FACT Hudson Valley Hospital Center is now offering this valuable life saving screening exam. Lung screening is a painless, non-invasive procedure and is performed on the Light Speed 16-slice CAT Scanner, an essential diagnostic tool in the assessment of lung nodules. This technology permits the radiologists at Hudson Valley Hospital Center to see any nodules or lesions in the lungs, too small to be visualized by standard chest x-rays. Detecting the malignant tumors in an early stage with CT screening is crucial as intervention can occur when the cancer is still in a curable stage and confined to the lung area.
FACT Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women. Most people die of lung cancer than of colon, breast and prostate cancers combined. It is estimated that as many as 80% of lung cancer could be cured if detected in an early stage.
