Local Choir Spreads Good Cheer With Holiday Concert

Cortlandt Manor, NY - (December 7, 2012) – This holiday season the bells will be ringing and the kids will be singing, at Hudson Valley Hospital Center that is. HVHC is a main stop on Walter Panas High School’s holiday music tour. Songs to be sung will include the classics from Frosty the Snowman to Winter Wonderland. The group, a mixed choir comprised of students from 9th to 12th grades, will be accompanied on the piano by musical instructor Jamie Stroffolino.

“This is my first year teaching at Walter Panas High School,” said Stroffolino. “But this is an annual holiday tradition that I knew had to be carried on during my tenure. The kids are great and couldn’t be more excited”.

Throughout the day, the students will make their way around Cortlandt Manor and Peekskill visiting area nursing and retirement homes such as The Seabury at Fieldhome and Westledge Health Center. The Panas students will be singing in the Hospital Lobby from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, December 17. The public is welcome. The Hospital is located at 1980 Crompond Road in Cortlandt Manor.

“Hudson Valley Hospital Center is delighted to welcome the students in to add some holiday cheer,” said Hudson Valley Hospital Center President John Federspiel.

In addition to the holiday carolers, Hudson Valley Hospital Center celebrates the season  with its Santa’s Helpers program. In its 17th year, Santa’s Helpers raises funds to purchase presents for less fortunate children and their families. The Hospital will hold its annual wrapping party on December 19. Last year, the staff wrapped more than 800 gifts in three hours. This year the goal is to spend $125 on more than 100 children in the community.
