About Your Hospital Bill

Please be aware that each time you receive services from the hospital, a separate account, for that date of service, is created.  It is possible to have several accounts open at the same time.

Insurance companies listed on the front of your statement will be billed as a service to you.  Insurance benefits will depend on your policy and your remaining deductibles due as well as your coinsurance and/or copayment responsibilities. Any amounts not covered by insurance are the responsibility of the guarantor or responsible party.

Please review your bill when you receive it to ensure we have all of your insurances listed in order to bill them out correctly.

Physician Billing Information

You may receive additional bills from physicians who helped with you care while you were a patient at Hudson Valley Hospital Center. These may include radiology, emergency room, anesthesia, surgeon, and physician bills. Should you have any questions regarding their bill, please contact them directly. To assist you, we have listed the most frequently requested phone numbers below:

Hudson Valley Imaging (HVI) 1-800-294-5696

Emergency Medical Associates (EMA) 1-800-345-0064

Billing and Collection Practices

To insure proper billing and reimbursement, Hudson Valley Hospital Center requires proof of insurance, payment or proof of the ability to pay at the time of service.

Consistent with our mission, the hospital will not deny necessary care because of a lack of financial information or financial resources. Until financial resources are properly identified, the Hospital may reschedule elective services.

In general, it is the hospital’s policy that accounts not paid within 120 days will be reviewed for appropriate collection action. After the review, accounts deemed uncollectible will be referred to a collection agency.

You will receive monthly statements indicating your financial obligation. In addition, a final notice will be sent to you when an account becomes delinquent. The final notice is the last notice you will receive prior to collection referral.

It is important for you to respond when you receive a statement from us. Payment plans are available on request and we will work with to establish a plan that is affordable to you. Financial Assistance is also available if you qualify.

Insurance Companies We Participate With

Below is a list of health insurance carriers with whom Hudson Valley Hospital Center has agreements. Each carrier offers many different plans, each with its own benefits, limitations, copayments and deductibles. Therefore, even if your insurance company is listed below, it is not a guarantee of payment. We recommend that you contact your insurer directly to ensure your plan will cover your services at HVHC and to discuss with them what is needed for the service you are requesting as well as informing you of any copayments, coinsurance or deductibles you may be responsible for.

What Will it Cost Me?

The cost of your stay or services at Hudson Valley Hospital Center will depend on many things, such as the services you were provided and why you are here. Insurance also plays a major role in reducing what the actual cost of your services will be to you.

Please contact the Patient Accounts Department (914) 734-3858 or the Financial Counselor (914) 734-3518 if you have questions. We can help with any confusion and may be able to help with payment options.

If You Have Insurance
We will request a copy of your identification card at the time of registration. We may also need forms that your insurance requires us to file. You may also need a referral or an authorization, depending on your plan. You will be asked to assign benefits from the insurance company directly to the hospital so that your insurance company can pay us directly for the services.

It is your responsibility to make sure the requirements of your plan have been met. Please work closely with your referring physician to insure that pre-certification is obtained as necessary for all scheduled services.

If your plan’s requirements are not followed, you may be financially responsible for all or part of the services rendered in the hospital. Some physician specialists may not participate in your healthcare plan and their services may not be covered.
