RecoveRead Brings Book Donation to Hudson Valley Hospital Center

Cortlandt Manor, NY - (November 29, 2011) – Grace Ring knows what it’s like to be bored in a hospital bed with nothing to do.

But unlike many other kids who would flick on the TV or turn to their IPhone, Grace did something about it. The 14-year-old Yorktown girl started RecoverRead, a charity which donates books for young adults who visit the Hospital.

On Monday, Grace delivered 200 books to Hudson Valley Hospital Center to be used in the Hospital’s Emergency Department. Two large boxes filled with classics such as Dr. Seuss, Junie B. Jones series and others were presented to Dr. Ron Nutovits, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine at HVHC.

“This is a wonderful gift to children who visit the Emergency Room,’’ said Nutovits. “We really appreciate Grace’s efforts.’’

RecoverRead teamed up with Barnes and Noble in Mohegan Lake to collect the books. Patrons of the book store are asked at the register if they want to pay to donate a book. Last year, RecoverRead collected 2,500 books and hopes to top that during this year’s drive, which ends December 31.
